Trinity Romance and the Squamish Off Road Cycling Association (SORCA) are bonding together once again for a night of flesh and faux fortunes with James Bondage at the Howe Sound Brew Pub Saturday Feb. 16.All proceeds from the fundraiser are split 50/50 between SORCA and the Women's shelter. Organizers are expecting another blowout as last year's event raised a total of almost $8,000, said the Trinity Romance owner.
"It's a good partnership because it brings in a broader base," said Eric Armour. "And it's a costume event where people can get totally dolled up and wear crazy outfits. It's a really neat event with stuff you don't usually see in Squamish."
This is definitely not your average Saturday night in town to say the least. While a bondage aerial act from Seattle headlines the lingerie fashion show, playing cards will be dropping and the roulette wheel spinning in the makeshift casino. All the while, local DJs Craiger and General Electric will be mixing beats along with Vancouver's Josh Hall. Since much of James Bondage revolves around appearances, guests are encouraged to go all out with glitz and glam. Armour is taking it to the next level with stilts, PVC pants and mucho makeup.
"I'm going to be about 10 feet tall and totally marching around," he said. The hot fun may not melt away the snow, but new president Dave Gillie said it should gear up SORCA members for the upcoming bike season."It brings excitement to our members to see that we're volunteering already and then they get excited about helping out, too."
Along with Gillie, three new directors were named at the recent AGM. Jude Goodwin was named Media Director, Jo Sykes is Social Director and Barry McLane is in charge organizing downhill races to complement the classic Toonie races and new social rides. The introduction of the social rides is intended to encourage beginners and families to hit the trails and meet new people.
Tickets for James Bondage are selling fast, with over half of the 300 tickets sold in the first three days. Tickets are available at Trinity Romance Shop and the Howe Sound Inn front desk for $30.
