What makes you uniquely qualified to help lead Squamish for the next three years?

Mayoral candidates

Rob Kirkham

Your mayor must have demonstrated leadership experience, not only on council but also serving in numerous roles within the community. He must have considerable business experience, people management skills and the ability to analyze complex issues and always exercise financially responsible decision making. He must act with honesty and integrity in the best interest of the entire community and proven his passion for Squamish with a long list of volunteering and community service. He must respect others with diverse opinions and be a good listener. I bring all these qualities with me to lead Squamish for the next three years.

Auli Parviainen

As an inclusive, innovative and adaptable leader, I will bring accountability and integrity into the mayor's office. I will unite our team of councillors, staff and the community behind a strong vision borne out of the residents and take action to build a diverse and sustainable economy. With demonstrated leadership in small business, and non-profit organizations, I am an experienced negotiator skilled at producing unifying results. University-educated and thoroughly versed in good governance practices, I also excel in fiscal management. My energy, passion and exceptional communication skills will build the confidence we need for our future. Let's do it together!

Council candidates

Bryan Raiser

Squamish volunteer for 16+ years with almost every community organization. Three years council experience where I've had success, made mistakes, learned from both and am ready to use that knowledge to move Squamish forward. My energy, passion and dedication is contagious and I go into every meeting with an open mind.

Uffe Hansen

Using all my experience, knowledge and leadership skills from 20 years as management for B.C. Tel/Telus in the corridor and 41 years as volunteer firefighter with 20 years as captain.I can handle stress and make decisions based on facts.I will lead the community over the next three years.

Brad Hodge

I would be a rare councillor: living in non-profit housing and not owning property or having major business interests to protect, I am free to act in the best interests of the community. Five years on our co-op's board have been a good primer on the demands and challenges of council.

Eric Andersen

I will pledge relentless focus on economic development, cautious land use decision-making, and fiscal prudence! Good awareness of community desires and needs through diverse local volunteer involvements. Well acquainted with our planning history, environmental issues, and economic development experience. I can admit to impatience, but not self-interest.

My demonstrated leadership and experience in both community involvement and business. Having worked on the senior team that successfully delivered the critical infrastructure building and operational planning of Whistler's Municipal Olympic plan. I do not own development property which may be viewed as a conflict.

Doug Race

My career experience, my community involvement and my passion and vision for this community.

Susan Chapelle

I come from an under-represented demographic: Small local business owner.I have worked in industry, arts, education and health care. I have governance experience as director on non-profit boards. I have successfully championed policies and published research for those in need. I listen. I actively engage in my community. I value transparency.

Chris Wallace

I think one of the major things that qualifies me for council is my business and work experience. My current role as GM at Big Sky has taught me how to problem solve, motivate people, to work within a strict budget process and how to build strong, lasting business relationships.

In my day job as a business analyst, I am tasked with gathering and interpreting stakeholder input, providing strategic direction and collaborating with very different groups to effectively manage projects. These are real skills that I would like to employ to help make our community the best it can be.

My six years of council and SLRD leadership is invaluable experience as the community moves progressively forward.

Phil Audet

I have a degree in computer science, which really is about problem solving. Sarah Braebrook

I can balance our pressingfinancial, social and ecological issues responsibly.A leader has to evaluate the consequences of decisions years ahead of time. I do that. I have a vision for the power of our future and I understand the work we need to do to prepare for it.

Ted Prior

The unique value that I provide is my ability is to bring out the best in people. I listen, I support good ideas, and I help others work together. We need a council working toward consensus, maximizing investor confidence and realizing good initiatives brought before council for the best Squamish.

Rob Weys

I do not believe I am the most qualified in our community to lead. But my determination and ability to listen to people will benefit the community. I have invested my family, business, and future in Squamish.

Geoff Dyer

Thirty years, eight elections opposing the OCP, now opposing the SLRD OCP too!
