CAO leaves post at the district

Deputy to assume duties

The District of Squamish has a new chief administrative officer (CAO).

Corien Becker has left her post at the district.

“Council has decided to move in a new strategic direction and is in the process of mutually concluding Corien Becker’s employment with the district,” according to a news release from the district today (July 30).

Becker, originally from Creston, B.C., was hired in June of 2012.

Linda Glenday, who was deputy CAO, has assumed full CAO duties on an interim basis.

“Council has full confidence in the district staff team as we collaboratively chart an exciting future for Squamish,” Mayor Patricia Heintzman said in the release. “We have a very skilled, strong and dedicated team of employees that will continue to work towards achieving the goals of council and the community.”

A search for a new permanent CAO will be conducted at a later date, according to district staff.
