A Dentville resident had an abrupt early morning wakeup Tuesday morning when a car sideswiped his house.
Dane Moreau is a tenant in a house in the 38700 block Britannia Avenue off of Buckley Avenue around 7: 30 a.m., there was pounding on his door and he was told to get out of the house.
“I think it is one of the tenants who hit the house, actually,” Moreau said, noting there are three residential units within the one house.
He didn't think the car had done much damage to the house and had just sideswiped it.
Squamish RCMP, Squamish Fire and Rescue and an ambulance were on scene.
Moreau was parked in his car a block from his home, drinking a coffee after the incident.
He was told he had to evacuate his home because the authorities didn’t know what damage had been done by the vehicle, he said.
A Squamish RCMP officer was blocking people from entering within a block of the scene.
"We are at the scene and trying to sort this out. Appears to be a medical situation that caused it, but not certain yet," said Squamish RCMP Staff Sgt. Brian Cumming.
"Fire is on scene as there was a gas line ruptured, but it has been cut off now."
