Centennial Way eases access to voting place

Access to the voting place at Brennan Park Leisure Centre was facilitated today by the opening of the Centennial Way overpass.

Access to the voting place at Brennan Park Leisure Centre was facilitated today by the opening of the Centennial Way overpass.

The Sea to Sky Improvement Project announced today (May 12) that the Centennial Way overpass is now open to pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

Construction on the overpass began in April 2008. Crews removed about 6000 cubic metres of material from the roadway below, and 1075 cubic metres of concrete was used to build the structure.

The new Centennial Way overpass carries highway traffic on top and provides significantly improved east/ west connectivity to Brennan Park Recreation Centre and Loggers Lane via a new municipal road, cycle path and pedestrian sidewalk below.

Southbound traffic exits right to Centennial Way connecting to Loggers Lane. Northbound traffic also exits right through a temporary access until the northbound lanes are finished over the Mamquam River. A deceleration lane and exit from the highway is scheduled to open in early June.

In the mean time, any questions relating to the project can be directed to Pam Tattersfield, traffic communications manager at 604-898-2117 or email [email protected].
