Chances Boardwalk Squamish was not the only Chances establishment purchased by Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Ltd. over the past few weeks.
The company, known as a market leader in Canadian gaming, also purchased community gaming centres located in Mission and Surrey, and acquired additional operational rights related to the former operations of Burnaby Bingo Country. This is in addition to several other casinos the company owns in B.C. including Grand Villa Casino, Starlight Casino, Cascades Casino and Lake City Casinos.
The purchase of these facilities will add 225 slot machines to Gateway's existing operations, together with established bingo operations.
According to Gateway, the purchase will ensure that the communities in which these facilities operate will continue to receive support and have opportunities to receive even greater contributions in the future.
Chances Boardwalk Squamish has become a staple venue for concerts and community events since the venue officially opened its doors on Feb. 1, 2010, shortly before the start of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Since then, Chances Casino has hosted the Rock Bar Rock Star, held several lead-up Squamish Equinox Rock Festival (SERF) fundraiser concerts, fashion shows, after-parties and poker nights.
It also offers a popular shuttle service that operates until the bar closes and aims to reduce the incidence of drinking and driving.
