From chickens to drive-throughs, the District of Squamish (DOS) is looking at making some big changes to Squamish's regulations.
The municipality is bringing forward omnibus bills for its Official Community Plan (OCP) and zoning bylaws.
It is a way of taking forward a collection of unrelated amendments, district planner Sabina Foofat told The Chief.
Among the proposed OCP amendments is one that would bar new drive-though developments from Squamish. The idea came up during council's discussions last year. At the time officials were deliberating the new Tim Hortons and CIBC bank on Garibaldi Way.
We are not going to be removing any [current] drive-throughs, Foofat said.
Also on the books is a look at backyard chickens. This will be the first time the public will be able to debate the long-discussed topic. The omnibus measures will also deal with containers as building materials, medical marijuana operations' zoning and vegetable and fruit stalls on residents' property.
Open houses on the amendments are anticipated to be held in the first two weeks of February, Foofat said.
