Squamish's community newspaper this week received four nominations in the annual competition honouring the best and brightest in community newspapers in British Columbia and the Yukon.
The Chief was named one of three finalists in its circulation category for Newspaper Excellence as the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association (BCYCNA) announced finalists for the 2013 Ma Murray Awards announced on Tuesday (Feb. 25).
Reporter/photographer Ben Lypka was named a finalist in the Best Feature Photo award category for newspapers with circulations of under 25,000 for his photo titled "Polar Expression" that appeared in the Dec. 5 edition of The Chief.
Graphic designers Kristen Dillon and Nicolas Hesson were named finalists in the Ad Design Award, Under 25,000 category -Dillon for an advertisement she produced for Kaos Kids and Hesson for an ad he designed for Brave Planet.
The BCYCNA awards will be handed out April 26 at the River Rock Casino in Richmond.
