Chief wins silver in national newspaper competition

Squamish's newspaper has once again been named one of the top community newspapers in Canada.

Squamish's newspaper has once again been named one of the top community newspapers in Canada.

At the Canadian Community Newspapers Association's national convention in Quebec City Saturday (May 27) The Chief won second place for best all-round community newspaper in its circulation category, second place for best front page and second place for best editorial page.

First place in its category was won by the Haliburton County, Ont. Echo.

Last year The Chief won first place for best all-round community newspaper in a smaller circulation category.

"We are very pleased to receive this recognition," said Chief publisher Tim Shoults. "It takes a great community to produce a quality newspaper and we are certainly fortunate to have a great place to writer about and a great team to put it together each week."
