The Squamish Chief has won two Ma Murray Awards from the B.C.-Yukon Community Newspaper Association.
During a gala event in Richmond on Saturday, editor Christine Endicott and publisher Darren Roberts picked up the gold medal for General Excellence in its circulation category across B.C. and Yukon. Also, they received a silver medal in Special Publications for the summer 2015 edition of Discover Squamish magazine.
They praised the entire Squamish Chief team for the awards, which were based on news, editorials, features, sports and arts stories, photography, design, advertising and production quality.
The judges said the Chief’s stories appeal to a new generation of readers and added, “The layout is clean and logical, photos are remarkable, and advertising is creative and complements the overall design. The Chief clearly stands above its competitors. Well done and congratulations to the entire staff. It took a team to create this thoughtful product.”
The Squamish Chief also recently won five national awards.
