Squamish council this backed a request for the Squamish Christmas Market to occupy a new home along one side of Cleveland Avenue next to O'Siyam Pavilion Park.
Historically the event, planned this year on Dec. 14, has been held on the parking lots on either side of Winnipeg Street, organization Cindy Cardiff told District of Squamish council on Tuesday (Oct. 16). But this year, planners were told the parking lots' owners aren't interested in having the market on their land, Cardiff said.
As a result, Cardiff requested that the municipality allow the market to be set up on along one side of Cleveland Avenue adjacent to O'Siyam Pavilion Park.
District staff is examining the possibility of placing Christmas lights in the area.
