There have been several black bear sightings around Squamish and residents are reminded to secure all attractants such as garbage bins and composts. COs were forced to destroy a bear that became a risk to public safety in a campground. Campers are reminded to secure attractants around their site.
A bear accessing attractants in Garibaldi Estates was captured, ear tagged and released in its home range.
COs apprehended three males fishing illegally on the Cheakamus River and two charges were issued. They are also investigating a complaint of illegal dumping in the Squamish Valley.
