One of Squamish’s most popular watering holes will be getting more seats for special events.
At their May 7 meeting, council unanimously approved a temporary use permit to add 46 restaurant seats at Backcountry Brewing for the purpose of 14 temporary evening events over eight weekends.
The permit lasts a year.
The events are proposed to begin at 3 p.m. and will end between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
When council opened the floor to public comments, only Ben Reeder of Backcountry Brewing spoke up. He presented several letters of support from local organizers and businesses.
Separate from the application, staff said they’ve been working with the owner of 1201 Commercial Way to revise their parking plan in order to accommodate the increased commercial uses on the property.
Backcountry is one of several units at that address.
Parking revisions include an increase of 36 stalls, staff say.
