The educator who has served as superintendent of schools in the Sea to Sky School District for the past seven and a half years this week announced his retirement.
Dr. Rick Erickson, whose 41-year career has included assignments in both teaching and school leadership, is retiring on July 31, District 48 Board Chair Rick Price announced in a statement issued on Tuesday (June 29). Before coming to the Sea to Sky region, Erickson's career included stints in the Trail and Maple Ridge school districts.
"Superintendent Erickson has been a dedicated and hard-working leader for our district," Price said. "He has provided the board with valuable advice on its quest to provide the most effective education for our students. I have enjoyed working with Dr. Erickson and will miss him. The Board of Education joins me in wishing him the very best in what is clearly a well-deserved retirement."
The statement did not say when the board expects to name a replacement.
