The District of Squamish's chief administrative officer is jumping ship.
Kevin Ramsay announced his resignation in a statement issued on Tuesday (April 24), as he will take on the role of city manager for the City of Port Moody. Ramsay was hired as chief administrative officer in Squamish in 2009. He helped bring about significant changes in the structure, governance and internal operations at district hall, municipal officials said.
"Mr. Ramsay has made some key changes that will continue to propel the district forward for many years to come," Mayor Rob Kirkham said in the statement. "His ability to develop strategic business solutions, enhance community engagement and manage change, along with his passion to inspire others, has significantly benefitted Squamish. I wish him well in his future."
The new opportunity enables Ramsay to be closer to his family, he said. Ramsay noted he looks forward to using his skills in a large municipality within Metro Vancouver.
"I will truly miss Squamish, but it is the right time to take on this new role," Ramsay stated.
Ramsay's last day with the district is May 22.
