There's been a shuffling of responsibilities at municipal hall.
The District of Squamish (DOS) is re-aligning its general manager portfolios. As of Tuesday (Jan. 29), former general manager of protective and support services Linda Glenday stepped into the newly defined role of general manager of development services, engineering and operations.
Glenday joins the district's general manager of corporate services, Robin Arthurs, and general manager of financial services, Joanne Greenlees, at the head table. The municipality is also recruiting for a fourth and newly formed general manager's job, in charge of business and community services.
The new positions represent an exciting shift at the district and provide strong leadership at the most senior level, Mayor Rob Kirkham said in a statement.
This move leverages the strengths of our current general managers and will create a complete and comprehensive leadership team so that district staff can move forward strategically with renewed enthusiasm, he said.
The new general manager of business and community services will be in charge of recreation services, economic development and real estate. The successful candidate will play an outreach role in the community as it pertains to business and economic development, as well as engaging recreation users of all ages, officials said.
The position represents an opportunity for Sea to Sky Corridor applicants, district CAO Corien Speaker said.
We see this as an exciting opportunity to augment the skill set at the core leadership table with a strong sense of business acumen, which will help the district capitalize on our opportunities, she said.
District officials aim to have the position filled within three months.
