The Sea to Sky School District this week received more than $500,000 for the purchase of four new school buses.

The $523,367 from the Ministry of Education that was announced on Monday (Nov. 4) will go toward the purchase of three buses capable of transporting more than 80 passengers and one capable of carrying 50 to 59 passengers, provincial officials said in a statement. The new buses are to be delivered next spring.

"These four new buses will allow our district to save money on maintenance costs that can be reinvested back into the classroom," said Jordan Sturdy, MLA for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky. "More importantly, this investment ensures our students are transported to and from school in safe, comfortable and reliable vehicles."
