The District of Squamish is tweaking and tuning a plan that will govern the development of parks and recreation in the community over the next 20 years.
In October, the municipality unveiled its draft Parks and Recreation Master Plan, compiled by consultants Lees and Associates. It drew mixed reviews, with Brennan Park Recreation Centre rink users saying they wanted the plan to include a second rink and the Squamish Valley Equestrian Association voicing concern over the draft document's suggestion that the community's horse riding ring be moved.
The consultants followed up with further stakeholder meetings. Now they're making the second draft public, district planner Elaine Naisby wrote in an email to The Chief.
Draft Plan 2 will be posted to the district website www.squamish.ca and will be accompanied by an online questionnaire to capture feedback, she wrote.
Hard copies of the second draft and feedback forms are also available for pickup at municipal hall, the rec centre and the Squamish Seniors Centre.
The public can review and comment on the plan until Sunday, Jan. 15. The comments will then be incorporated into a final draft, which staff aim to present to council at a Committee of the Whole meeting in February, Naisby wrote.
