Downtown Squamish Holiday Parade set for Dec. 2

All community members are invited to join in and celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Yule, Kwanzaa or just themselves and their businesses.

The Downtown Squamish Holiday Parade will jingle through town on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m.

The Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association puts on the beloved parade that draws hundreds yearly.

“All community members are invited to join the parade to celebrate whatever you celebrate; Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Yule, Kwanzaa, or just your fabulous self and business … whatever your celebration, join us on Dec. 2 in Downtown Squamish for our fun and inclusive parade," reads the Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association news release.

The parade will begin from the Log Sort at 39540 Galbraith Ave — at the end of Loggers Lane by the Yacht Club — taking Vancouver Street, turning right onto Cleveland Avenue, and continuing north along Cleveland Avenue to Pemberton Avenue.

"We are thrilled to announce that Santa and Mrs. Claus will be gracing the parade on the

newly designed sleigh, generously crafted by the Squamish Men’s Shed last year," said

Kerry Neil, BIA's executive director, in the release. "A heartfelt thank you goes to our sponsors and supporters — the District of Squamish, Woodfibre LNG, Alta Lake Electrical, Race & Co. and Miller Capilano. Their generous support makes this event all the more magical."

Those interested in being in the parade have until Friday, Nov. 24, to register, according to a news release from the DSBIA.

Additionally, there will be a competition for the best float and the winner will earn a $500 donation.

The Squamish Chief team has registered our float.

We hope to see you there.
