On May 2 at 1:31 a.m., a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder was checked on Valley Drive for a traffic violation.
As the driver retrieved the insurance papers the member observed two suspicious bags of plant material in the glove box. The driver was arrested and when searched a quantity of cocaine was found on his possession.
The 21-year-old male was later released on a promise to appear in Provincial Court on June 23 to answer to a charge of possession of drugs contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Thief breaks into downtown store
On May 4 at 11:19 p.m., a member attended an intrusion alarm at Car Tunes store on Second Avenue.
The front door had been smashed by a large rock, which was found inside the store. A check of the interior of the store found no one inside, the owner advised that 12 cell phones and a headset were stolen.
The value of the items is approximately $2,000 with approximately $1,000 damage to the door and cabinet inside. Police are looking for a male described as being five foot 10 inches, 160 pounds, longer scruffy hair, missing two top front teeth, with a bit of a tuft of chin hair, wearing blue jeans, runners and carrying a black backpack with a green flap on top.
Copper wire stolen
On May 3, a residents reports that a chain link fence has been cut and copper wire stolen from the BC Hydro Sub Station on Pemberton Avenue.
The fence had been cut in two locations, and a relatively small amount of copper wire stolen, the suspect(s) causing approximately $1,500 damage to steal about a $100 in wire.
