On April 10 at 2:43 a.m. police attended to a single vehicle collision on Village Drive off of University Boulevard. Police located a female in the passenger seat of the 2008 Pontiac Wave, which had struck a stone statue. The female had suffered facial lacerations. She was checked by B.C. Ambulance crews and then returned to the detachment for breath tests. The 43-year-old registered readings twice the legal limit and was released on a promise to appear. The driver will appear in North Vancouver Court on
May 27 to answer to a charge of impaired driving.
Drunk driver charged
On April 8 at 11:50 a.m., police observed a 1996 Toyota 4Runner speeding and driving erratically on Highway 99 while southbound. The vehicle was stopped at Highway 99 and Commercial Way. The 26-year-old female driver failed a roadside screening for alcohol and was returned to the detachment for breath tests. The driver refused to supply breath samples and was released on a promise to appear and will attend court on June 3 to face charges of impaired driving and refusing to supply breath samples.
Careless driver crashes
On April 13 at 1:02 p.m. a 1987 Cadillac travelling south on Highway 99 near the Stawamus Chief went off road and struck a Caterpillar Auto Paver, which was parked. The collision resulted in single lane alternating traffic for a short time. The 44-year-old female driver was not injured and was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care and attention.
Thieves steal gas
On April 12 employees of Lions Bay Public Works discovered that the works yard on Tidewater Way had been broken into by cutting a lock and prying open a door. Suspect(s) then stole approximately 135 liters of gasoline.
Unlocked car broken into
On April 11, a vehicle owner reports that his unlocked vehicle was entered overnight while parked in the parking lot at Eagle Run Grocery. Suspect(s) stole a gym bag containing various climbing equipment and gear.
Tools stolen
On April 8 a storage area on a job site was broken into and several tools were stolen at 1200 block of Main Street. Stolen were a Rigid Chop Saw, Dewalt Laser Level, Husky Tripod Light and several hand tools in a toolbox.
