'Eagles' Den' presentations set

Representatives of three Squamish organizations will make presentations to a panel of judges next week as part of the Inside Edge Innovation Challenge 2011.

Representatives of three Squamish organizations will make presentations to a panel of judges next week as part of the Inside Edge Innovation Challenge 2011.

The "Eagles' Den" event - inspired by CBC's popular "Dragon's Den" television show - will take place Thursday (Sept. 22) at 6:30 p.m. at the Squamish Adventure Centre. Earlier this year, organizers of the Innovation Challenge put out a call for applications from community groups for funding and expert support in resolving a problem or challenge. From the list of applications, organizers have chosen three finalists: the Howe Sound Women's Centre, the Squamish Writers' Group and the Squamish Climate Action Network's CAN-Farm.

Next Thursday, representatives of the three groups will make presentations to a three-judge panel, who will have a chance to ask questions of the applicants "in a friendly and supportive atmosphere." The judges will then be asked to select one challenge to be featured during the Inside Edge Innovation Challenge on Oct. 29 at Quest University.

Inside Edge is an industry-funded non-profit organization that encourages and supports business, entrepreneurs, and ideas in Squamish's emerging knowledge-based industry. For more information about the organization or the Innovation Challenge, visit www.insideedgebc.org/InnovationChallenge.
