A 53-year-old Squamish resident faces theft, robbery, and weapons charges after Squamish RCMP responded to a report that a male had stolen items from a retail outlet in the 1200 block of Hunter Place on Friday (July 15). The suspect, after being confronted by an employee of the business, fled after producing a knife, then was arrested nearby.
Break and enter
Also on Friday (July 15), a break and enter took place at a residence in the 2000 block of Cheakamus Way and jewelry was stolen. The thief gained access to the house through an unlocked window sometime during the day. A garden shed on the property was also targeted, though apparently little was taken.
Police break up fight
A 19-year-old Squamish resident is facing charges of mischief and uttering threats after RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance in the 38000 block of Britannia Avenue involving a number of individuals arguing and possibly fighting on Saturday (July 16).
Liquor stolen
On Monday (July 18), RCMP received an early morning report of an alarm sounding at a business in the 40000 block of Glenalder Place. Rocks had been thrown through a window to enable access and a large amount of liquor was stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
Composite drawing released
Police continue to seek citizens' help with their investigation of a June 15 incident whereby a man was reported to have been walking through backyards of homes in the 40000 block of Cheakamus Way carrying a rifle loosely wrapped in a blanket at about 4:50 p.m. No further information since the initial report is available but RCMP have released a composite drawing. The suspect is described as approximately 20 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, heavy set, with a dark complexion, short brown "buzz cut" hair, wearing a white T-shirt and long shorts. Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is asked to contact Squamish RCMP or Crime Stoppers at the above-mentioned numbers.
