No one was hurt but a bridge was chipped when a truck carrying an excavator ended up wedged under the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing Friday.

The construction vehicle “clipped the underside of the overpass” by the Main Street on-ramp at around 11:30 a.m., according to North Vancouver RCMP spokesman Sgt. Peter DeVries.

The truck and excavator were kept at the site into the afternoon as engineers were called in to check for structural damage.

The impact “looks quite minor,” advised DeVries.
