A Squamish-based business group is hosting a public meeting later this month to discuss the future of the film industry here and how best to facilitate its growth.
The meeting, titled The State of the Film Industry in Squamish, is planned on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park.
Squamish Coun. Ted Prior recently voiced a desire to set up a committee, probably not affiliated with the District of Squamish, to explore how best to facilitate an increase in film activity in Squamish and ensure that filming activity is integrated with other activities. The Jan. 24 meeting, organized by the tech-industry group the Inside Edge, will include both expert panel and roundtable discussions about the industry's future here.
We'd like to make some recommendations to the District of Squamish on what they are doing right and how they could change things to do it better, meeting organizers said.
