A man died in a house fire on Skawshen Road, on Squamish Nation lands near Capilano Road on Friday, Jan. 26th.

West Vancouver Fire Department investigators remain on the scene over the weekend to determine the cause of the blaze.

The swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected Squamish Nation council scheduled for Totem Hall Sunday was postponed out of respect for the deceased and his family.

The ceremony was also postponed earlier this month due to the death of Nation elder Vernon Lyle Baker.
A Squamish Nation source says the ceremony will likely be held in two weeks.
