First responders are mustering at Howe Sound Secondary for a traffic accident on Highway 99, according to Squamish RCMP.
Some locals have been alarmed by the show of two ambulances, the air ambulance, fire rescue and police personnel at the high school, but Sgt. Sascha Banks says air ambulances often land somewhere accessible to be able to airlift a patient into Vancouver, rather than going all the way to the Squamish Airport.
RCMP tweeted that there is currently a northbound lane closure on the Sea to Sky highway at Gonzales Creek, near Darrell Bay, due to a collision with multiple emergency crews on scene.
UPDATE - #BCHwy99 Vehicle incident at Gonzales Creek Bridge in #Squamish. The northbound traffic is detoured into the southbound left lane. The highway is reduced to a single lane in each direction. Please obey traffic control and Expect delays.https://t.co/QX6DSSjVBY #SeaToSky
