A man who was fishing in Browning Lake in Murrin Provincial Park last week was fined $150 for retaining more than his daily quota of fish.
Conservation officers checked the man and found that he had retained five trout when the daily limit at Browning Lake is four, Sgt. Peter Busink of the B.C. Conservation Officer Service said in a statement.
The fine amount for the offence is $100 plus $50 for each fish over the daily quota, he said.
Angling without licence
Sea to Sky conservation officers issued three violation tickets and several warnings in the past week to people who were fishing without a licence. Busink reminded citizens that they should have a valid, paper-copy angling licence - a digital copy produced on a smartphone is not valid, he said. The fine for failing to produce a valid angling licence is $115. The cost of an annual angling licence is $36 for a B.C. resident, $55 for a non-resident.
