The Squamish Food Bank was handed money this week.

The Squamish Food Bank and Howe Sound Women’s Centre were among the beneficiaries of some $190,000 in grants handed out last week by the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation (WBF).

The food bank received $15,000 to be used for food supplies and a truck to be used for pickups and deliveries and the HSWC received $5,000 for its program to help women facing abusive situations in the Sea to Sky Corridor, WBF officials said in a statement issued on Friday (June 20).

Since 1993, the WBF has handed out more than $8 million in grants to help non-profit groups in the Sea to Sky Corridor. In late 2013, it donated $300,000 toward Centrepoint, Sea to Sky Community Services’ proposed new downtown community services hub.
