A Squamish woman is in mourning after her younger brother was murdered in Calgary last week.

On Wednesday, Dec. 16, Dominique Halicki's brother Kyreese George Wright, 20, was stabbed and died of his injuries in a home in the northwest Calgary community of Panorama Hills.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for a man in relation to the fatal stabbing.

Calgary Police said via Twitter on Dec. 21 that they are still searching for the suspect who was believed to still be in the Calgary area.

A Go Fund Me campaign has been set up to support Halicki to be able to pay her bills while the owner of a local cleaning service is reeling from the loss.

The Chief confirmed with Halicki that she endorsed the campaign and that its information is accurate.

"He was ambitious, kind, generous, and one of the most amazing little brothers anyone could ask for," reads the "Help for the family of Kyreese George Write" [sic] campaign page set up by friends.

"He was the kind of man who made sure you knew how much he cared for you."

Halicki has dropped everything to be with her family during this time.

The brother and sister were very close.

"They went through the foster system together and grew up always having each other’s back. They were each others' support systems and knew they could count on each other for every step of their life journeys," the statement reads.

"Dominique is hardworking and does her best to give back to her community. She is active in donating to charities that serve marginalized communities and helping out neighbors in need."
