Fire rescue and repair crews rushed to Descartes Place after a gas line was struck by an excavator.

Fortis BC spokesperson Sean Beardow said that the pipe was venting gas into the air as a result.

The line was broken open at around 9:30 a.m. this morning, but was re-sealed as of about 10:15 a.m., he said.

Beardow said it affected only one customer and service has since been restored to that person's home.
