After what’s to this point been a cool summer, it’s forgivable to have forgotten how to fend off the heat.
That knowledge will be necessary starting Sunday, though, as Environment Canada is forecasting temperatures to rise into the low 30s thanks to a ridge of high pressure in southern B.C.
The heat is expected to recede on Tuesday.
Residents are reminded to: stay cool and hydrated during the day, particularly between 1 and 5 p.m.; limit time outdoors to early morning and evening to avoid the heat of the day; dress appropriately with loose, light clothing as well as a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses; keep one’s home cool by opening windows, closing shades and avoid using the oven; and never leave pets or children alone in a parked car.
