Giving back on the court: Squamish players raise funds for PearlSpace

Hoops 4 Hampers: The annual fundraiser raises $8,000 for needy families.

Hoop Reel Squamish Basketball Academy raised $8,000 during its annual Hoops 4 Hampers fundraiser, which included a parent versus child game. (The kids won.)

The funds go towards supporting nine needy families through the PearlSpace (formerly the Howe Sound Women’s Centre).

"We love that our kids learned the importance of giving back, and we were beyond impressed with the result," reads a release from Hoop Reel, which also thanked sponsors and parent organizer Kathryn Wyn.

"We will save about $1,000 to buy groceries for families in need in February when the holiday season has ended as well," reads the release.
