The Ruby Lake Lagoon Society presents James Pawley for an informative workshop on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Iris Griffith Centre.

This program, entitled Beyond Gore, will examine global warming through a talk and slideshow followed by an interactive discussion.

Many of you saw the first Gore movie, An Inconvenient Truth.

Frightening though it was, it was based on information that is now out of date and the situation now appears to be considerably worse than it was when the movie was released. Now instead of 10 years, it seems we may have as little as two to start implementing major changes. What went wrong? It seems that more positive feedback loops exist than was anticipated. This talk will try to bring the Gore movie up to date and also discuss how we should respond.

Workshop fees are $20 per person, $10 for members.Membership applications will be available at the workshop or can be downloaded at www.lagoonsociety.com. Call the Iris Griffith Centre at 604-883-9201 for more info or to pre-register.

This workshop has been timed to coincide with the Saturday summer arts and crafts program that has a $5 drop-in fee.
