Special to The Chief

If you're a hat lover, there's an event coming to town just for you.

Ivan Sayers will be coming to Squamish to present a show called Hats and Fashion from 1900s to 1970s.

The educational fashion show will be held at St. Johns Anglican Church April 28 at 7:30 p.m.

Sayers is an international speaker and museum consultant. Sayers has spent his career relating fashion to the social, economic and political times in which clothing styles were in vogue.

The hats displayed will run the gamut from a Jackie Kennedy pillbox from the 1960s to the ostentatious hats of the 1890s.

As the models showcase the hats, dressed in garb from the same era, Sayers will provide commentary on the hat and the time period in which the hat was created and worn. Throughout the show Sayers will answer the question: "What makes a hat stylish and who and what influenced changing hat styles over the last century?"

Sayers put on his first exhibition and fashion show in 1969 and was formerly the curator of history at the Vancouver Museum.

All of the hats being displayed are part of Sayers collection, with items dating back to the 1800s.

Tickets for this event are being pre-sold at Billie's Bouquet and Mostly Books. The ticket price is $12. For those who wish to add some extra fun to the event by wearing a hat, door prizes will be presented.
