Have a Spooktacular Halloween

The Hobgoblin Express is decked out for Halloween at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park. This 3 km mini-rail train is ready to take you and your family on a "spooktacular" ride around the park where ghosts and goblins await you.

The train runs each night to Monday (Oct. 30) starting at 5:30 p.m., with the last train leaving at 8 p.m. The cost is $4 per person and $2 for members.



Visit the Haunted Castle at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre tomorrow night (Oct. 28) from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Lots of family fun is promised including ghouly games and other activities. Children's game tickets are $2 each. Be sure to have you favourite costume on and admission is by donation to the Squamish Food Bank.



The Mamquam Elementary School French Immersion program is holding a fund-raising dance tonight (Oct. 27) for kids in Grades 4 to 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 each and a concession stand will be open.



On Saturday night (Oct. 28) remember to turn your clocks and watches back one hour as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end. I'm sure we will all enjoy and extra hour of sleep!



Seniors are asked to circle their calendars for Wednesday, Nov. 8 when the 2006 Seniors' Wellness Fair is held in the Brennan Park Recreation Centre form 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Monster is a one-man play performed by John Kei Mah and directed by Alex Bruhanski and to be held at the BAG tonight (Oct. 27) and Saturday (Oct. 28) at 8 p.m. Tickets at $18 are available at the BAG and Mostly Books.



On Wednesday, (Nov. 1) the Squamish Food Bank will distribute groceries from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Trinity Hall, Squamish United Church on Fourth Avenue.



The annual Christmas Bazaar sponsored by the Women's Auxiliary to the Squamish General Hospital will be held at S. John's Anglican Church on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will be at Save-On-Foods on Sunday (Oct. 29) selling tickets.

Trick or Treating for Canned Food is being organized by Grade 8 student Aidan Davis at Howe Sound Secondary School. Students from all over the community will be knocking on doors on Halloween night asked for non-perishable food items for the Squamish Food Bank.



An introduction to hand drumming and world music (workshop) with Bruce Henczel will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Eagle Eye Theatre for ages eight years and up. The Howe Sound Performing Arts Association is sponsoring this event and concert in the evening. The cost of the workshop is $20 or $30 for a concert package. The Homeless Drop-In Centre on Second Avenue needs your help to open in time. Those who can help with construction are invited to drop by the old fire hall on Second Avenue. Donations of construction material, clothing, blankets and toiletries would be appreciated, too. The Helping Hand Society is a registered charity and financial donations are tax deductible. There are only 20 craft tables available for the popular Christmas Craft Fair at Garibaldi Highlands Elementary School to be held on Friday, Nov. 24. Craft tables are $25 each. Call Sue Sweeney at 604-898-3688.



The Squamish Health and Wellness Expo will be held in the Totem Hall on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 1 to 6 p.m. Admission is free. It will include reiki, reflexology, belly dancing, herbal workshop and more. Contact Karen at 604-815-6855.



Sea to Sky Entertainment is presenting the musical A Chorus Line at the Eagle Eye Theatre Nov. 2 - 4 and Nov. 9 to 11. Showtime is 8 p.m. each night with Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults and $11 for children/students and seniors and are available at Billie's Bouquet and Squamish Savings (downtown). Please note, this musical is not suitable for children under 13 years.
