A fatal collision has closed the Sea to Sky Highway north of Squamish as of 9 a.m. Thursday morning, according to Squamish RCMP.
Staff Sgt. Brian Cumming said the highway remained closed in both directions due to a collision at the Callaghan Forest Service Road. The accident involved a pickup truck and an SUV and police reported there was a fatality.
He advised Squamish motorists not to head north until the road reopens, which Drive BC estimates will be later this afternoon, possibly between 3 and 5 p.m.
"There is significant backup," he said.
