Squamish residential care home Hilltop House has been deemed norovirus-free.
The centre had been running under an outbreak protocol since the highly contagious virus was discovered at the facility on Jan. 13. Staff stepped into action, separating the healthy from the ill and ramping up the cleaning schedule, Vancouver Coastal Health spokesperson Anna Marie D'Angelo told The Chief on Wednesday (Jan. 25).
The premises had to be norovirus-symptom-free for 96 hours before the outbreak protocol could be dropped, she said.
Things would be getting back to normal as far as visitors and access, D'Angelo said.
During the outbreak protocol, volunteers and new admissions were not allowed into the facility. To contain the illness visitors were discouraged from dropping in, D'Angelo said.
