Will it be a white Christmas in Squamish? Maybe!

With less than a week to go before the stat holidays, the forecast is calling for a mix of conditions in the coming days.

As of 2:11 p.m. on Dec. 19, a snowfall  alert was issued for the Sea to Sky Highway between Squamish and Whistler. Environment Canada warned 15 centimetres of snow is predicted to hit the road as a Pacific frontal system heads to the south coast. Environment Canada warns drivers to adjust to the conditions, use winter tires and chains.

Heavy snow near Whistler is expected late Dec. 19 as temperatures hover near freezing. The snow will be mixed with some rain, and the wealth alert said it will become wet flurries by the morning of Dec. 20.

As winter officially starts on Dec. 21, there will be rain showers and temperatures hovering around four degrees. Sunday, Dec. 22, will see a return of some sunshine with a mix of clouds. Monday has a 60% chance of showers, but on Tuesday that 60% brings a chance of flurries or showers. With an overnight temp of negative two, perhaps some snow could stick. The same 60% chance is predicted for Christmas Day — the white stuff has a chance of making an appearance.
