A Squamish resident who has worked in key positions with both B.C. Parks and the Trans Canada Trail has been hired as director of recreation services with the District of Squamish.
Tim Hoskin, who assumed his new duties on Tuesday (Jan. 3), spent several years in leadership positions with B.C. Parks before taking over as national director with the Trans Canada Trail, where he was responsible for strategic planning and overall operations with the trail project.
Hoskin, who has lived in Squamish for the past 12 years, holds a masters degree in leadership from Royal Roads University and a diploma in outdoor recreation management from Capilano University.
"I am eager to begin my role and I look forward to working with staff and the community of Squamish to deliver an outstanding recreation program that meets the needs of our residents," Hoskin said in a statement issued on Wednesday (Jan. 4).
"We are excited to have Mr. Hoskin as a member of our team," said Kevin Ramsay, DOS chief administrative officer. "His experience will enhance the district's recreation services department as well as lead the department into a new period of growth with the recommendations set out in the Recreation Core Service Review Report."
