At around 2 p.m., police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver near a hardware store on Hunter Place, heading toward downtown Squamish, RCMP Sgt. Wayne Pride wrote in a statement.
Police located the vehicle on Victoria Street near Fifth Avenue. The driver, a woman, showed signs of impairment by either drugs or alcohol and was arrested. Drug paraphernalia was found in her possession, Pride said.
A male passenger in the vehicle became belligerent and threatening toward a police officer. He resisted arrest and even tried to run away before being physically subdued by the officer. Nearby, police located a man described as "a prolific property thief" on a bike. The 24-year-old was found in possession of some break-in tools.
