Injured cyclist fined

On Sunday (Sept. 12) at 5:02 p.m., police received a report that a cyclist had been taken to hospital after being injured in a collision with a vehicle. The 27-year-old cyclist had received an injury to his hand when he changed lanes and was struck by the mirror of a passing vehicle. The operator of the bicycle was issued a violation ticket for careless cycling.

On Sunday (Sept. 12) at 2:45 p.m., police were advised that the common room in the units at 1200 block of Village Green Way had been broken into and vandalized. A vase and flat screen TV were smashed and a fire extinguisher had been discharged setting off an alarm.

On Sunday (Sept. 12) at 1:42 p.m., a group of tourists from Holland advised police their motor home was broken into while they were at Shannon Falls Park. Entry was through an unlocked door. A backpack, cell phone, gold bracelet, pearl necklace and $150 in Euro currency were stolen.

On Thursday Sept. 9 at 10:45 a.m., a group of tourists from Holland reported someone had broken into their rental motor home while they went for a one hour walk at Shannon Falls. An iPod, Mac Note Book and $400 in cash were stolen.

On Monday Sept. 13 between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., suspect(s) entered into an unlocked vehicle on Vista Crescent and stole a blue iPod, black sunglasses and a garage door opener. The garage door was opened but no items were taken.

On Saturday (Sept. 11) at 1:45 a.m., a member on patrol observed a vehicle with insurance that had expired in January. The vehicle was stopped near Third Avenue and Main Street and the 41-year-old driver displayed obvious symptoms of impairment by alcohol. He was returned to the police detachment were readings well over the legal limit were obtained. The driver was later released on a promise to appear to answer to a charge of impaired driving on Oct. 27. The vehicle was towed and the driver was also issued with a violation ticket for driving a motor vehicle without valid insurance.
