Two Squamish residents are leading the crusade to stop animal testing at B.C.'s largest university.
Last week, Stop UBC Animal Research hired Squamish resident Chaya Jorgensen to head the organization's efforts to end animal experiments at the University of British Columbia. Jorgensen joins Squamish resident Brian Vincent on the team.
"Stop UBC Animal Research's ability to think outside the box and its tireless volunteers are what drew me to the campaign," Jorgensen stated in a press release.
It's exciting to have a fellow Squamolean come on board, said Vincent, Stop's director. Jorgensen is talented and passionately committed to helping end UBC's experiments on animals, he said.
Vincent founded the advocacy group in 2010. The grassroots campaign employs peaceful, legal and compassionate approaches to educate the public about the grim realities of research on animals at UBC, he wrote. For more information visit http://stopubcanimalresearch.org/.
