A well-known B.C. author and environmental journalist has been added to the roster of presenters for the upcoming TedXSquamish event.
Arno Kopecky, who has written about the struggle to protect the environment in his books The Devil's Curve and The Oil Man and the Sea, is of six new names organizers added to the list of presenters on Thursday (Oct. 17).
The conference, which carries a theme of Radical Shift, is to take place Nov. 2 at Quest University. Other new speakers announced on Thursday are adventurer Sean Dillon, Quest chief academic officer Ryan Derby-Talbot, history buff Eric Andersen, humanitarian Ian MacKay and community leader and educator Tsawaysia Spukwus (Alice Guss). They join entrepreneur Jayson Faulkner, educator Anne Thomson, youth advocate Cindy Petitt and artist Stan Matwychuk on the list of TedX presenters.
In the summer of 2012, Kopecky embarked on a three-month journey to what's known as the Great Bear Rainforest on B.C.'s central coast a journey he has since chronicled in his just-released book The Oil Man and the Sea.
