A number of items, including a computer, were reported stolen after a boat was broken into while moored at the Squamish Yacht Club this week.
The incident occurred sometime between Saturday (Feb. 8) at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday (Feb. 9) at 3 p.m., RCMP Sgt. Wayne Pride wrote in a statement.
A Dell laptop computer, a pair of binoculars and miscellaneous tools were stolen. No damage was done to the boat, Pride said.
Women arrested
Two women were arrested in two separate instances of alleged assault last week.
On Thursday (Feb. 6) at around 2 a.m., police attended a home in the 38000 block of Third Avenue in response to a report of an assault. At the scene, police spoke to a 59-year-old Squamish resident who said she had been assaulted by another women who was known to her at her home. A 53-year-old Squamish resident was arrested and faces an assault charge.
On Friday (Feb. 7) at around 11:30 p.m., police attended a hotel in the 38000 block of Third Avenue in response to a reported assault. At the scene, a 36-year-old Pemberton woman was arrested for having assaulted her 30-year-old ex-boyfriend during an argument.
Logs stolen
On Tuesday (Feb. 4), police received a report that three to four cubic metres of logs had been stolen from a forestry yard on Gailbraith Road. The logs were stolen over the course of two nights on Sunday and Monday (Feb. 2 and 3).
GPS stolen
On Wednesday (Feb. 5), police received a report of a vehicle having been broken into while parked along Government and Aspen roads. The vehicle had been left unlocked. Stolen was a Garmin GPS valued at approximately $150. The theft was believed to have occurred around Jan. 23.
Business damaged
On Sunday (Feb. 9) at 8 p.m., police received a report of a rock having been thrown through the window of a business in the 1300 block of Magee Street. Employees were present at the time, but when they looked to see who had thrown the rock, there was no one around. Police patrols of the area failed to locate a suspect.
Vehicle damaged
On Sunday (Feb. 9), police received a report of a vehicle having had two tires slashed on Feb. 6 while it was parked in a carport of a complex in the 40000 block of Tantalus Road. No other damage was done, and nothing was stolen from the vehicle.
