Sea to Sky School District officials this week named a woman with extensive experience in the delivery of Aboriginal education programs as the new district principal for Aboriginal education for the 2014-’15 school year.
Susan Leslie, who is currently leadership coach in a provincial literacy project involving Vancouver Island University and six B.C. school districts, begins her new position Aug. 1. She takes over the post from Juanita Coltman, who is moving into the principal’s job at Stawamus Elementary in the fall.
Leslie has a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Education degree with a concentration in Native Studies and Special Education. Her career in education spans 27 years, and she has taught students for kindergarten to Grade 12.
