Liberal rival praises Reynolds, ready for 'unfinished campaign'

The man who nearly ended John Reynolds' political career last summer was full of praise for his rival this week.

"I congratulate him on a terrific career," said Blair Wilson, who ran for the Liberals against Reynolds and came within 1,700 votes of unseating him. "He was a formidable opposition in the last campaign and I enjoyed campaigning against him and debating against him. He was a tough adversary."

Wilson has stayed active in the riding since the election and intends to seek the Liberal nomination in the next election, although the nomination process has not officially begun.

"Our campaign never ended," said Wilson. "I call it the unfinished campaign. I think we took about three days off after the election."

Wilson declined to say whether or not having Reynolds out of the picture would improve the Liberals' chances in the riding in the next election.

"The opposition is something that's a little bit beyond our control," he said.
