Organizers of the Live at Squamish music festival are giving a local band the chance to perform in a lineup that includes the likes of Metric, the John Butler Trio and Weezer.
The festival already includes three local bands - The Zolas, Kyprios and Bend Sinister - but Live at Squamish wants to show support for local talent by giving a band that hasn't had its big break a chance.
In conjunction with Metro, Brand.LIVE is offering one band the opportunity to play the festival on Aug. 20 or 21 with all the usual perks - rider, dressing room, backstage massages, $250 to cover fuel costs and a spot in the artists' campground.
The contest already has roughly 30 entries and bands have until April 22 to submit an application to liveatsquamish.com/metroprese. Bands can upload a video, MP3, MP4 or photo and bio to help win the public vote and be one of the top five.
Public voting opens on April 26 and five judges will decide and announce the winner on May 9.
