Local company Sea to Sky Removal won in the “best concept” category of the Small Business BC Awards on Feb. 24.
It’s a substantial win, especially given the company’s relatively short time in operation.
Sea to Sky Removal was formed in 2016 with the aim to reduce or prevent construction waste from entering the landfill.
Recycling stations and hand-sorted loads help make sure recyclables are disposed of properly. The company also provides waste audit reports so clients can see what’s happening.
The road to victory was a long one.
More than 600 small businesses received nominations across all categories since last fall.
Over the last few months, those nominees were whittled down to five per category.
They were then tasked with giving Dragons’ Den style pitches to a panel of business experts.
Winners get $1,500 and a one-year all-access pass to Small Business BC seminars.
