Make sure your registration papers are in order, snowmobilers.
Conservation officers, natural resource officers and the RCMP conducted a multi-agency compliance check over the weekend to ensure snowmobilers were adhering to the Off-road Vehicle Act, according to Sgt. Simon Gravel of the Conservation Officer Service.
In total, officers inspected 142 snowmobilers in the Sea to Sky corridor. Twenty tickets and 18 written warnings were issued, Gravel said.
That roughly translates to almost 30 per cent non-compliance of the snowmobilers checked, he noted. The fine for operating an unregistered off-road vehicle is $230.
The three agencies will continue inspecting snowmobiles and enforcing the off-road vehicle act for the remaining of the winter.
